Voting no to this is akin to a chicken voting for the KFC Colonel as president.

and you're pretty much stroking yourself if you vote yes.

The fact of the matter, is that if people actually put their money where their mouth was (which isn't happening, as teh 75% yes vote on the poll suggests) we would have made in america everything. Not everyting would be made in America, but if 75% of the people in America would pay more- we would have at least ONE company that still makes an American television. Instead, the last American television was an item sold at KMART.

just an FYI, the TV company went under before KMART did...

As a Cailfornian- should I be offended when people buy something from another state? Chances are they have weaker enviromental laws and less regulations...

Lets see here………..

Boots from China.
Jeans and socks from Mexico
Shorts from Portugal.
Shirt from Vietnam.
Plate from Thailand.
Knife from Spain
Cup from England
Drink from Scotland
Camera from Japan
Digital Therm from China
PC from god knows where.
Wallet from Italy.
Pencil from Japan.
Chair from Norway
……….. This is just a short list of stuff I can look at and within my grasp while at my computer. Anyone’s list would be much the same. Even though I was made in the good ‘ol USA I am an indirect product of the Netherlands.
My Harley even had speakers that were made in China!……….. They were replaced by ones made in Canada. The sound is awesome now! Most of my Ford is from Mexico, has metric bolts too and my Honda is Japanese all the way.

Hey! My note book! “Top Flight“, goes were ever I go ever since my memory started to fail. “Made in the USA”. I think they had to cut down a tree to make it though.

house
motorcycle
Wife
guns

Are American made.

car and truck have american labels

As far as furniture and everything else, it's dog eat dog. Quality and price are key.
Personaly I don't want to buy anything made from 2008 until now because the give a darn is just not in the product with the economy as is.

Honestly, got to answer no on this.

The question is would I pay more. The answer is yes, absolutely. I do pay more, the exception being my F-150 work truck, which was $14000 brand new off the lot in '05. It's 94% assembled in the USA, according to a sticker in the window when I bought it. It's sad that household electronics aren't manufactured here anymore, hard to find a good pair of American boots under $300 and forget about tennis shoes. But if it's available I will pay more for American products.

This is kind of like the black guy that lost the election even though most people said they voted for him in the exit polling.

Even though most everybody says they'll pay more, they aren't. If they were, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

With all things relative, If compensation for the American worker keeps losing it's value our products will likely reflect this and products from China will be soon be better than ours.

Personally everything I see made in China is crap and often dangerous to use!

With all things being relative, it is a market driven economy. We once laughed at products made in Japan yet today I do not hear a word about Toyota talking about needing a bail out. How about Honda? Some of the best stuff I own was made in Japan. I feel though, that now we are in the Obamanation all will be well.....Soon...........Rabbit blindly puts a hand on the monks shoulder walking in front of him and obediently walks forward and over the stony pass.

I still remember the bumper stickers "Hungry eat your foriegn car", which were promting a Buy American attitude back then.

I agree Japanese made products are very respectable now, and there are some glimers of light at the end of the tunnel economy wise.

Which bible is that verse from?

I was chatting with Doug Wells about a new tester he just ordered so thought I would do a little research on it.

As it turns out the company is literally right across the parking lot from my office. I had no idea..

Yeah, I’ll support them………. And I won’t need to pay for shipping………..lol.

Rabbit, this may be specific to my browser of something along those lines, but whenever you post there is lots of funny looking "o"'s with okina symbols on top of them cluttering up your posts. Only your posts seem to display that stuff. ???

Dunno Mike. I had to look up just what an okina symbol was and seems to me to be pretty much a Hawaii thing.

Here is a sample of what turns up in all your posts- them………. And - And I won’t need to pay for shipping………..lol. And yeah, those are not really okina's but I didn't know what else to call them... Maybe that is a signature trail from some govt agency snooping in on your internet activity....
