John, please explain how e-mail is more valuable than signature?

I had said -
I ask the customer "Please sign my work order so I can get started working" (I just ask for the email instead as it is more valuable than a signature.)

Now I say -
We collect the email addresses and then use www.ConstantContact.com to send out a monthly note to keep our name in their mind. I have had customers tell me "I had been meaning to call you (or someone) to have that electrical problem worked on, but I kept putting it off. Then your email popped up with your phone number -so-I-called-you-.

I have found it easier to get the email address in front. If they hesitate that is a small clue, (or not)

Double entry paper work (not accounting)

The inefficiency drives me nuts. I have to enter client info 3 times.
PDA as a customer contact.
PDA as an calender appointment.
Quick Books

Is there something that will interface a PDA with QB?
I an not sure the iphone is good at this. I am willing to spend money and time on this.
Help!

Long range. Use constantcontact.com to keep in touch with them.

One customer said "I kept putting off calling you for some work and then your email poped up with your number so I called you.

Short range. It gets them to look at my invoice. The invoice has my "usual rate" printed on it along with a bunch of good for the customer to know stuff like "Proud member of BBB since 2003 etc.

I dumped Quickbooks about 10 years ago and put together my own system using Filemaker.
Here is a link to using it with Iphones. The same organization owns both products and makes integration of both rather easy. http://www.filemaker.com/products/iphone/
I no longer own even any stock in that company and do not get paid for pushing any of their products in any way, but I try to enlighten people to ease of use when I can.
