NiCad batteries have a terrible memory effect. If you use a NiCad battery and discharge it halfway down and then recharge it, and worse yet, if you do this over and over, the battery forgets that it has the second half of its capacity. This is why Lithium Ion batteries are so much better. They have almost no memory effect.
Nickel Metal batteries are better but not as good as L.I. batteries.
I'm looking for a small scru-gun that uses the lithium ion batteries.
Since I do have an NiCad battery set for my Panasonic drill I am wondering if anyone knows how some companies are able to re-condition the NiCad batteries. I wonder what would happen if you discharge the battery completely by using it first and then by tie wiring the trigger in the on position and letting it run until it is dead. I know this helps. Would it be good if after it is fully discharged I gave it a very brief charge and then again tied down the trigger again and totally drained it again, will that help recondition the battery?
Any advice or help will be appreciated.
