I want to run a welder in the garage and it needs to be on a 30amp circuit. It is only 15amp. Can I pull the old wire out with a fishline following and then using the fishline pull back the new wire? What size wire do I use for the 30amp?

| HEHEHEHE. don't know if fishing line will pull that wire. depends on how far your garage is you might want to pull #8's or #6's. if it's not that far you might be able to just tie new wire on the old wire and pull it through or pull out the old and push the new through.

| If this wire is in conduit you could simply use one of the old wires as a pull wire. If the welder is 30 amps you could use ten wire if it is not over 100 feet or so, but what else feeds the garage and how is it wired. If this 14 gauge wire feeds the garage then you should install a seperate panel and pull larger wires for a small sub panel to feed garage, and then feed welder from that.
