| I don't see any problem with this at all, I wish they would require all new homes to have a chase or conduit ran in the attics or crral spaces for future work, a 1 " minimum.

"90.8 Wiring Planning. (A) Future Expansion and Convenience. Plans and specifications that provide ample space in raceways, spare raceways, and additional spaces allow for future increases in the use of electricity. Distribution centers located in readily accessible locations provide convenience and safety of operation. The requirement for providing the exclusively dedicated equipment space mandated by 110.26(F) supports the intent of 90.8(A) regarding future increases in the use of electricity. Distribution centers should contain additional space and capacity for future additions and should be conveniently located for easy accessibility. Where distribution equipment is installed so that easy access cannot be achieved, a spare raceway(s) or pull line(s) should be run at the initial installation, as illustrated in Exhibit 90.2." (this is in the introduction section and expanded from cd rom text)

| Remember that the handbook commentary is not enforcable code.
I see no violation here.

| I wasn't talking violation I was talking , Yea it'd be nice if builders and carpenters (other trades in general) would consider future expansion I agree w/ lctrc, too bad it wasnt enforcable, how many times have you run a pipe up the outside of a house or had to damage finished areas? It just makes sense. I usualy suggest running spares (and sneak 'em in) if the customer doesn't want to pay (now) because it saves time, money and headaches later. Anyway, I'll shutup, (for now)

| We usually install a spare conduit from the panel to the attic/basement/crawl space in new installations. It makes common sense to have it available.
Just this past week, we wired up a new sunporch, and wanted to bring in a new circuit for the outlets. Lo and behold, there was an empty 1¼" conduit from the garage panel to the attic space above!
Made the job so much easier!
Now if I could only convince modular home manufacturers to install additional empty conduits in those new houses, I'd be all set.
