Subject - Wiring diagram
drew2 Fist of all I am a student and I am looking for a wiring diagram that will show me exactly where each wire is connected from the incoming power of a 3 phase system to the transformer to the control and pwoer circuits to the motor. I only has to have a start and stop.

thanks drew2. Oh Great site I know I will learn a lot here.
lctrc789 You are wanting a lot of information here LOL, but what type of motors Squirrel cage, Synchoruos, Wound rotor as these are just a few.
I guess I would really need to see what you have for a stop, start switch and what kind of voltage as well as Delta or Wye high or low voltage connections.
High voltage delta and wye hook up the same way on any motor with
1 2 3 being the leads and 4&7 5&8 6&9 being tied together as pairs each.
However low voltage leads for a Wye are 4 5 6 being the leads and 1&7
2&8 3&9 tied together as pairs each.
As far as low voltage Delta 1 6 7 tied togheter as one lead and 3 5 9 tied as another lead and 2 4 8 tied together as another lead.
Agin a lot of needed info for the answer to this as to what type of motor nameplate rating for heaters and amperage etc.
drew2 The motor is wound rotor and a wye connected circuit
the amp is that important yet. I just want to see where the connections are going from the nc pushbutton through the no pushbuttons.
JimmyDee I'll look through my archives to see if I have a diagram for a wound rotor. This is a rare breed and is a little more complicated to wire. The one I worked on was a 600hp that ran a 20 ton log chipper flywheel. It took about 1 1/2 min to bring it up to speed. The circuit basically worked like any normal starter for the stator windings but ran this huge resistor in series with the rotor windings until it came up to speed. I think they staged 3 sets of resistors and then shorted out the rotor winding to make it just like a regular squirrel cage motor.

JimmyDee HERE is a good resource that does not contain the information you need but has a lot of diagrams in it and thought it was excellent for a person just starting out in motor control.
HERE is an excellent discription of how one works and is constructed.

drew2 Thanks JimmyDee the two you recommended are great.
I really want to thank you for time and help. This going to be a great experience here for me.
JimmyDee I looked for a book that I had with diagrams in it and couldn't find it. Sorry. Must have loaned it to someone in the past.
