mikeedfeem there is a buzzing sound coming from my breaker box. im pretty sure it coming from the circuit that controls the heater. ive recently installed a digital thermostat and need to know if i did that wrong and if not what it might be. i have tried tightening the screws but that didnt work. thanks for your help. michael
lctrc789 Mike what type of heater and do you notice if the breaker is unusually warm.
If it is buzzing could be loose connection or loose connection on the bus. But it could be something you have done that is causing it to buzz as well.
Really need to know what type and what you did etc. Let us know
sijagur Hi,
I want to ask you first, is the heater controlled by push buttons to switch ON-OFF? If you use push button, there must be a contactor too.
I suggest you to check carefully, what component which producing that sound?. Actually i'm not sure that the buzzing sound come from circuit breaker, usually buzzing sound come from contactors, after operating several years continously, the contacts may be not tight anymore. So, if you're sure that all cables are tight enough, you can check the contactors. You can check the contacts surface, if you find they are not smooth anymore, i suggest you to replace the contactor.

Scott Vickrey Try swaping the breaker for another one and see if the buzz is still there. When you open the panel does it smell like an old toy train set(ozone)? Does it sound more like one of those old toy football games that operate using vibration. is the noise coming from the main electrical panel or the heater panel?
kbsparky When you hear that buzzing, turn off each breaker one-by-one to isolate the culprit. Of course, it could be the MAIN breaker doing it, so keep track of the total load on it while performing the test.

In any case, a breaker buzzing is probably not a good thing, be prepared to replace the offending one when you find it/them.
journeyman491us ...Is the doorbell transformer mounted to the panel???
