Subject - voltage drop
mg05elec Should I expect to see a voltage drop on a parrallel run of 500 kcmill conductors with a run of almost 300' at 480 volts?
JimmyDee There is resistance in even 500,000 wire so you will see some drop even if it is very small. How much amperage is the wire carrying? That will determine the amount of voltage drop.
500k has a resistance of .0258 ohms per 1000 ft so paralleled 500k would be half that or .0126 ohms per 1000 ft. Your total circuit for 600' (there and back) is .00756 ohms. Using Ohms Law, if you had a 100 amp load on this circuit, you would drop about about .75 volts. So you could say for every 100 amps you would drop .75 volts. For 500 amps you should drop about 3.75 volts.
So to answer your question, you would have very negligible voltage drop.
