On what date was NEC 2002 adopted?

Mitch
| This depends on where you are? It is left to the state and local jurisdictions to decide when they will adopt each new edition of the code. Just because it's called the 2002 NEC doesn't mean that it was adopted in 2002.

| Dennis, The 2002 edition of the NEC became effective in Minnesota during the month of september 2002. If you want to see where this is officially stated look here: http://www.electricity.state.mn.us/Stat_rul/Guide/AGCYGUID03.pdf The referenced statue section (326.243 Safety Standards) can be found here: (see page 12) http://www.electricity.state.mn.us/Stat_rul/Mn_stat/Laws&RulesMay2003FullPage.pdf

| Thanks for the input Scott. I had certified hospital electrical design drawings in Aug 2002. The electrical contractor, last week, issued paperwork to the General stating the electrically operated front doors (egress path) had not been connected to the Life Safety Panelboard. He was requesting a "change-order" to run the circuitry an additional 250' to the Life Safety Panel. NEC 2002 was the first NEC Code which required egress doors to be on Life Safety. The 1999 Code allowed egress doors to be connected to Equipment Branch and through interpretation, the Critical Branch (fractional HP motors). No change order this time. Contractor must be getting awfully thin!

| Yeah, I hate it when I get suckered in to paying someone to work for them. It's really bad for business.
