Subject - Service calls A funny one
lctrc789 Heres one for the service guys that have seen a lot of funny and dangerous things LOL.
I generally do not do residential service calls, I am a Journeyman and usually do commercial/industrial work, I did residential work back in the early 80s and up till 91,
I have a small residential company that my son and step run work for me, and drive 2 service trucks.
I got a call from a lady that said she blew a circuit twice and decided to call us to come check it out,she said she got our name from one of the realtors we do work for, and she had another company there and they found nothing. SO I sent my step son and he found nothing the 1st time out and told her if it blew again to call.
Well a few days later she did call and he went again and he took out some secpts. switches etc. and couldn't find a thing. A week or so went by and yea the circuit blew again she called and I talked to her and asked her what all was on this circuit, she explained 2 lamps a TV and a VCR the lights and that is it she said that my step son had unplugged all these and she didn't even have the TV and VCR plugged in the family room and that they used the living room. So I sent my son he took everything apart checked it all and even installed a new breaker, when he got back at the end of the day he told me he didn't charge her for this and he had spent 2 hours OK NO problem. I want to find the problem.
Well I was happy with that and a few weeks later the lady and her husband had left for vacation and their daughter was staying there when her daughter got home the room was out again and she immediately called and I told her donot touch a thing I am on the way out.
I got there and sure enough the breaker was tripped So I went to the family room unplugged 2 lamps and made sure the switches were off, they were.
I checked out everything with an ohm meter, a circuit tracer all I could do at that time, Well I had asked my son and step son to see if they checked all the cords etc, they said yes they did and they did't see anything obvious.
Well I plugged both lamps back in and everything worked So I told the young lady to call again if there was a problem she said OK, it was beginng to rain and she said hang on I have to let my dog in well to make a longer story short the dog came in went behind the sofa and we were talking and the lights went out and the dog yelped LOL
The dog had been chewing on a lamp cord and it got him LOL you couldn't even see the tiny marks in the thick cords to well I told her tell your MOM and DAD that we would bill the dog LOL
Short problem repaired
Sorry so long But I thought some of you service guys would get a kick out of this one I know the dog did LOL
