When checking a ballast to determine if it working correctly. How do you test the load side voltage? 4' 2 lamp ballast.

| Never have checked one. Usually just replace with a good one and if it works, the old one was bad. Jim

| I change ballasts almost daily. Simplest, easiest method is as Jimmy wrote, change the lamps, if that doesn't work, change the ballast, if it still doesn't work, check the tombstone wiring, still doesn't work, start over again with new lamps and ballast.

| Thanks guys, thats what I always do check bulbs then replace ballast. I just wondered if the load current could be checked at the tombe stones? I checked one and read very high voltage on the load side and wasn't shure what it should read.

| Dave, the output voltage on a standard magnetic ballast, could be as high as 575 volts. the ballast nameplate usually has that data on it.
