Subject - Romex support
Electricman OK, I know what 334.15 C says so one can imagine my confusion when a coworker called me today and told me that the inspector told him he could use bridle rings to support 14/2 and 12/2 NM cable to the bottom of the floor joists in an unfinished basement. These cables are feeds from various branch circuits throughout the dwelling some running the entire length of the dwelling to the service panel. My question is have anyone ever seen this done (It sure doesnt sound legal to me) I would like to hear from the inspectors on this site.BTW I told my coworker dont do it drill those holes or use runner boards. Thanks
zapped208 I will tell you also what works very well is 1 1/2" pvc conduit pipe straps screwed to the bottom of the floor joist. Never a problem with an inspector. I use them every 32". They work great and wire pulls easy.
JimmyDee I can't imagine that drilling a hole takes that much longer than installing a ring or strap. I like going straight up and getting into the attic space. It saves a lot of time but takes more wire.
