What exactly does "Pilot Duty Rated Contacts" mean?

| I would like to welcome you to this forum. Feel free to ask any question or respond to the questions you know the answer to. Pilot duty is a term usually used to mean very lite or low amperage contacts. A typical pilot duty device would be a push button that is used to control a starter. The aux contacts that are used to hold the coil on a starter energized, (maintaining contacts) would be considered pilot duty. They are used for control and are not used for heavy loads. Jim
