Subject - 208 VAC 3 phase to 230 VAC single phase
Bob Reid I have 208 VAC available, I need 230 VAC single phase to power an RF power amplifier. I have used an Buck transformer to raise 208 single phase to 230 VAC single phase.

How can I get 230 VAC single phase from an 208 VAC 3 phase source ? Is this possible ?

Thanks in advance,
Bob
JimmyDee Hi Bob, I would like to welcome you to the Electrical Knowledge forum. I hope we can answer your question(s) to your satisfaction and that you will use your expertise to answer some of ours.
I would like to say without trying to be a smart alic, that anything is possible if you are willing to pay for it. I would like to ask what type of equipment you need to raise the voltage for. If it is a motor circuit, you probably can get by without raising it. Most motors have a 208/230/480 volt rating and will function just fine at 208. Because motor speed in an AC motor is frequency driven, speed will not be affected.
Even if you motor doesn't have the 208 rating, it probably will be OK providing you don't require it to deliver full HP. We are talking very little difference in amp draw between 208 and 230 volts.
If you load is not a motor, I'm sure boost or buck transformers can be adapted but I've never done one so I'm not sure how it is done.
