Subject - fish tape
cs409 on a job and no 1/8 drill bit? got a fist tape? 1/8inch flat? if so cut you a pieace say, 8 or 10 inch,,,cut it at 45 to 60 degs for the tip.....install in your drill and now you have one very good wood or plastic drill bit which also has some flex..great for drilling thur base board etc etc...
SteveMc Good idea. Along the same lines, I've used one of the wire support that is used in crawl spaces to support the insulation to drill through the floor to get an exact location of an interior wall before I drilled up into it to add a receptacle or switch. Just chuck up the wire and drill right beside the baseboard from inside the house, then go to the crawl to locate the wire. They already have a pointed end and because they are smooth won't snag the carpet.
cs409 good one... am a little sad that this Neat Trick section hasnt filled up with some good ideas,,,,,,with all the good people on site you would think it would have many many post .....
