Subject - Parallel runs of 4/0 ACWU cable

The code allows you to use 4/0 ACWU cable for a 200 amp service even though its only rated for 195 amps. If I am installing a 400 amp service can I use paralell runs of 4/0?

| You can use parallel runs of 4/0 ACWU cable for 400 amp service though one run of it is only rated for 185 amp. The only thing is its life will be reduced. Please keep this factor in mind before installation.

| I found out from a west vancouver electrical inspector that you can do this but it seems this is a case by case situation. Do ask your inspector before installation.
