Subject - Romex in Conduit

Is there a fine line between using a conduit to shield wire such as romex, and running a complete conduit run. Do you have to use the same rules? Example: you are running romex through a piece of conduit to protect your romex from damage along exterior of a wall, but when you penetrate the wall or ceiling you run romex on to the end of the circuit. Do you derate ampacity? Any problems with doing this? Anything to take into consideration?

| NM cable cannot be installed in a complete raceway system.
When using a raceway as a protectionmethod, refer to the notes of the tables, that will tell you that conduit fill ans things of that nature are not addressed.
