Subject - Proper connection of copper to aluminum wiring

I am installing a built in oven with copper wiring, but the electrical line in the house is aluminum wiring. What is the proper way to connect the copper oven wire to the aluminum house wiring?
David Hyatt You can split bolt with an approved bolt that allows cooper and alu. Also I think you can but wire nut with an ati-oxident liquid inside.
ricky Also, the code changed for range wiring. Now a range circuit has 4 wires. Two hots,a white grounded conductor, and a bare or green equipment grounding conductor. A 4-wire receptical is installed. If you have a 40 amp breaker,8-3 copper with a ground is used.I always go up to 6-3 but thats me making the wire more than big enough. If the wire is more than 100 feet long it should be de-rated and the larger wire used.Your aluminum wire is probably 6-2 SE (service entrance) wire.If you don't upgrade, use de-ox grease on the aluminum to copper connections. The difference between the metals causes the connection to burn if you don't.De-ox is a wonderful thing.I use it constantly to solve burned connections.
Scott Vickrey It's my belief that a wire nut with a shot of anti-oxidant is one of the best ways to connect aluminum wires to copper wires. The reason for this is that aluminum wires expand and shrink during use and the streched square spring in the wire nut will also expand and shrink with the wire maintaining a tight connection.
