Subject - 230-460 3 Phase TIG Welder
tedb103689 I have a quick question... I have a 3 phase welder I picked up for my small home shop. It is marked 3 phase, but has taps for 230 and 460. Can I use single phase on this at 230? Any info will be greatfully accepted!
David Hyatt I am not real knowlegeable about welders, but if it is marked 3 phase and doesent say single phase as well you probably can't use it. They may make some sort of phase converter for this but would'nt be cost effective.
JimmyDee I have seen some DC welders that can be rewired to single phase but I wouldn't do it with out finding out from the factory exact ally what would be required and if it is possible.
