Subject - Ideal Size of Neutral Conductor
LeoLungay Hello there friends.
In a 3-phase high voltage transmission system, 4 wires in which three are hot lines and 1 is neutral, what should be the ideal size of the neutral wire. Should it be the same with the hot lines?
What would be the rationale behind the selection of the size of the neutral wire?
thanks

Ryan_J It should be sized to carry the possible fault current between it and any ungrounded conductor. It must also be sized to carry any load inbalance.
