Subject - Swimming pools & hot tubs
kvafla I am a new contractor, coming from strictly a commercial background. As a small contractor I am, of course, taking on mostly residential: especially at this time of year, pools and hot tubs. The Code references on these topics are relatively small. (Even the "handbook") I'm looking for reference material, or sites to download illustrations, etc...I know each inspector has his own idea of how the code should apply, so I'm wanting to cover absolutely all the 'bases' and go above and beyond on these first few inspections, so that the inspector can tell me, "You know, next time you only need to...." Any information would be greatly appreciated, also just any advice in general for a 'new guy" would be welcomed and definitely 'heeded'. Thanks, KVA.
wilkie We built our business in a similar fashion. Swimming pools are an easy endevour, unfortunately in our area of the world, the different communities we serve have different interpretations of the installation. I would encourage you to get refreshed in the applicable code sections, especially bonding of the system, and schedule meetings with the different AHJs in your area. When we tried this approach we were met with a willingness to help and an appreciation of trying to save everyone time and aggrevation. It allowed us ease of installations,AKA profit, which allowed us to grow.
zol_man I can concur with wilokie that the best way is to call the ahj and ask them what they would like in their jurisdiction. it shows a willingness on your part to cooperate with the "system", and the inspectors do appreciate it.

this has helped me quite a bit. i have been doing tubs almost exclusively for 5 years now.

lost my inside referral and now having to do alot of marketing for the jobs that i get.
