On T&M jobs, do you bill out the helpers at the same rate as the journeymen?
What about contract jobs? Seems to me a Man/Hour or LU is the same no matter who's doing the work. Therefore are apprentices more profitable? Would it be a good idea to have 2 apprentices for every journeyman?
TIA......RR

| RR, That depends. T & M: (again, MHO) If two guys are doing the work of two guys, yes. Not every task requires 5 years experience. If that apprentice is left alone and is struggling without help, or can't do anything without help, then no. When I have had an apprentice capable but not fast, we like to use them on highly profitable jobs, like in-laws. In regards to bid work absolutely 100% of the time keep your price at full boat. You're just smart enough to have not overstaffed a job with too many cooks, but dinner still gets served. SR

I got the first part and I agree. The second part (above) leaves me adrift. I guess you mean bid the job at full rate for the hours estimated - right. Too many cooks?
