Subject - switchgear
lucky1122 Does anybody know how to get information or training on the subject of switchgear.I've had a little exposure to it since I work for a company that owns over 300 buildings, so we have some buildings that have double ended secondary selective services, and also Primary selective services at voltages up to 13KV. Though most of our work is done on the building side occaisionally breakers have to be racked out and removed on both the low and high side.I just dont see practically anything written on the technical side of this subject at least not that Im aware of. Im lookin for anything not only written but training as well.
lctrc789 At one time GE and SQ D both had some classes and some information on switch gears from 13.2 KV to 480 delta to 120/208 WYE but I do not know if they are even offered anymore.
Without actually seeing one of these installed and their are several types it would take some time to learn the many different kinds used in the feild, however you may be able to get some clarifiction from GE SQD or Cutler hammer on gears.
PEI From time to time I used to get this stuff in the mail. As mentioned before, I'd check with Sq-D and GE (Apparatus Division - their service people), maybe even contact Seimens. After that, call the power company and find out where they get their training. As a last, but good source, contact the land grant colleges that teach power distribution as a post grad degree program, such as Univ. of Wisconsin.
