Hello all, I am working on a college-level project in which I am trying to provide a way for users to see how much energy they are using in their home. My questions are
1) Through what means could it be possible to show total household usage? Sort of like bringing the outdoor electric meter indoors?
2) Could a sensor be integrated with individual outlets or switchplates to show usage? What kind of sensor could this be?
Please email me if you would be interested in discussing my project. Thank you.

| I do not know of any type of sensor rather then an ordinary meter, but with proper math and calculations on amperage and wattage and voltage you can about figure what each device or load would use in a given time...

| There is a metering device available that plugs into receptacles. That being said, I dont have the slightest recollection as to who the manufacturer is, but I am certain it is made in China like everything else.
