I am installing a 2 ton window airconditioner. Is the following information correct.
240 volt dedicated circuit, #12 awg THHN wire on a 20 amp 2 pole breaker

| Just off the top of my head, I'd say it is not big enough but do you have the amp rating for the AC unit? Jim

No I don't have the amp rating, it is an old unit that the customer has and I can't find the rating anywhere. I don't think it will pull more than 20 amps but I guess I could run # 10 on a 30 amp but I don't want to over rate the airconditioner either.

| What is the NEMA configuration on the attachment plug? If it has a NEMA 6-20P on it, then you install a 20 Amp circuit. IF there is a NEMA 6-30P, then install a 30 Amp circuit. No brainer

FWIW, I used to install circuits for window A/C units, and about the largest size that operated on a 20 Amp circuit was 25,000 BTU. Just a hair above 2 "ton"

| 24,000 I think is 2 ton and 30,000 is 2 1/2 ton and so on at least from what I remember.....
