When I went to turn on my bathroom light the power was not working. All of the outlets in the bathroom , a light switch in the kitchen, and an outlet adjacent to the bathroom are not working. THe circuit was not tripped, there were no previous problems with the power in this area. What could the problem be?

| I've seen problems like this in the past and either a scotch lock (wire nut) has a wire pulled out of it or a terminal on a receptacle has come loose and shut the current flow off. I've also seen the older Sq D breakers not show the trip flag and actually been off. I would start by checking the panel to see if you actually have power leaving all the breakers. Jim

| thanks Jim, We have checked and there is power going out of the breakers. Will check receptacles, please let me know if you think of anything else.

| Check and see if there is a GFCI tripped, these will be the receptacles with a reset button on them common in kitchens and bathrooms.

| Check for what is called back wired receptacles. When the house was wired instead of putting the wires on the screw terminals wires would be stripped and stabed in the back of the plug. If this gets hot, lets say from running a vacuum cleaner, the wires will become loose and connection will be lost.

| I would agree with david and guess you probably have a GFCI recept. protecting the rest of the bathroom, but you have to keep an open mind. Could be a loose connection.

| It sounds like a GFCI problem, but if that don't work. It may also be a loose neutral.

| I had a problem similar to yours a long time ago and it was a loose neutral in a junction box.
