Subject - [?] Ok now i'm lost.... any ideas?
pimpskillet_sparky Ok, a friend calls me out to his parents place to look at some stuff that keeps going on and off. Figure out what circuit it is, and try to isolate the problem. Every recipticle, and or switch i take apart looks ok, wiggling the switches side to side, and whatnot dosent give me any suprises, or anything, no blue wire nuts in any place i shouldnt expect to see them. But from what they tell me, this circuit has its own on / off switch, controlled by demons. :) Took the panel apart, torqued everything down, which it all seemed fine, voltages are all 120.5 - 121.?.. didnt really load test anything, just assumed it was all ok. Now for some background, this is a double wide, but oddly enough, i didnt see the "pink" breakers I've seen before. MOH Type 1, square D rated 10,000. Now, the only thing on this circuit is a fridge, and a few clocks, and convience outlets, nothing drawing more than 2 amps max, exception being the fridge. The fridge is plugged into an outlet, that was meant for a light..(eg. brass tab broken) But i was told, "mr handyman" fixed the switch so it wouldnt accidentally get turned off. Can't reach them where they are at, so i left those 2 alone. The switch was physically in the off position, but the outlet obviously worked. My brain is telling me that the fridge could possibly trip the breaker, but its not tripping ?!? Do they have a faulty breaker? Or is there something in one of the 2 boxes I cant get to that i should be looking for? They say it goes off sometimes, only to come back on later. Which is the weird part to me. Any ideas?! I hate houses, stupid single phase should not be this strange!
kbsparky The keyword here is "doublewide" -- have a looksie at the crossovers between halves. I'd be willing to bet you have a loose/bad crossover connection underneath. Some doublewides have their crossovers buried in the outside wall, under the siding. IF this one is similar, then the best way to correct the problem is run a new home run for the afflicted circuit and back-feed into the tail end receptacle. Then remove the old home run from the breaker.

We have about 2 or 3 of these per year, with similar symptoms.
lctrc789 KB, has a good point here if the recpt. wiring is not hidden behind the siding it could be underneath the trailer itself some where...
Another thing in a lot of doble wides is the backstabbing they do, it can cause the wiring to go nuts.
I think you have a bad connection and it is opening up and causing problem, good luck in finding it
eleccon If you have two boxes you can't get to and a handyman was in there that is the first place I would look, as in bad makeup or loose connections........
