I am going to bid on a fuel storage sight where they will store gasoline, diesel and soybean oil and I was wondering if you can run pvc underground from the control room to a seal off next to the rack and then go to rigid conduit because it has to be explosion proof. Also if anyone knows where I can find explosion proof 3 phase switchs cheeper than my supplyer has, they want $ 155 per switch

| This would be a class 1 division 1 setting you CANNOT use anything other then rigid or IMC and it must be threaded at least 5 threads per coupling etc... I think there is exceptions to this such as bury PVC in two inches of concrete but that would be more expensive and a waste, if you needed to get back in the ground. As far as the explosion proof boxes etc, Shop around they are not cheap. good luck

| It's been awhile but I've done a couple gas stations and storage facilaties. Don't have my code book handy but there are specifications as to how deep & at what perimeter distance you have to keep when running PVC. Then we changed over to rigid when we got inside those perimeters.
