Subject - What would you do?
Boudreaux99 This is my first post on this board. I have been lurking for about a month and came upon a situation I felt like I need to share with some of you.
I recently took my Texas masters test and received about a week later a letter stating that I had passed the test. I was excited, and trying to start a new business, so I filled out all of my paperwork for the state and sent it in. $65 for the masters license and $125 for the contractors license. The next day I received a letter from the testing agency stating that I had been sent a passing letter incorrectly. It appears that I scored a 74% instead of a 75%, which is needed to pass. Now I have all ready sent the money in and could possibly lose it.

Should I,
A. Hope I get the license and forget about it.
B. Sue them for screwing up and breaking my heart and bank account.

I know at least 10 guys off hand that received masters licenses in Texas during the grandfathering period that couldn't get a 50% on the test. So what should I do? I am already embarassed because as soon as I received the letter I called everyone I know to tell them I had passed. Now I have to tell them otherwise. And some of them are potential customers. I'm not happy about the situation but I am also an honest person. This sucks. The only thing I can figure that would be good is if I do get the license, I go back and take the test again to get better than a 75%. Just for my own piece of mind.
lctrc789 Don't be embarrassed for not passing the test, many people do not pass the 1st try.
I would ask them Now what do I do you said I passed and I have sent money and a day later I have received another letter stating I did not.
What happens to my wasted money, can I take the exam again, and you send me receipts showing I have paid for the licensing and the contractors license etc...
You could get lucky and they do it anyway HOw is your LUCK ???
But chances are slim that won't happen.
Good luck and keep us posted.
kbsparky The passing grade for Maryland is 70% Too bad you don't live here

They should at the very least return your checks or refund your money for the unissued licenses since they were the ones who made the error.

Is there a procedure in place for you to review your exam?

Lghtning4u Boudreaux99, At the very least they should refund your $$$ back. Try to contact a TDLR rep on the phone and esplain to Lucy (lol)the circumstances. TDLR is still evolving with changes to their system.
Boudreaux99 Now the rest of the story. I went back and took the test again and this time I passed no problem. I have just gone through about 2 weeks of hell with the TDLR losing my paperwork 6 times, but am finally a licensed Master and Contractor in the state of Texas. I knew that if I went back and took the test again everything would work out and thank god it did. I am so relieved.
