My friend was looking over a electrical plan I made and brought something interesting to my attention. What is CKT? I replied the abbreviation for circuit. He said there is no (K) in circuit. Does anyone know where this came from?

| I think it is CIRCUIT I have seen it marked this way before as C-K-T. Unless stedder is right cricket LOL No symbol markings on this drawing? Many of the architects use CKT for circuit.

| Yea I was kiddin, crickets are something you dip in chocolate. Maybe 'cause "ct" and "cct" could mean other things (without a legend) although architects are always making stuff up and not telling us good observation though, where's the K

| David, Dont beat yourself up on this one, the english language is one of those parodoxes (as you can tell by my spelling and punctuation). There are no rules as how to form abbreviations or as to proper names, I only know this cause I am married to an educator. So my guess would be that ct, or crt, or cir, or whatever abbrev. you can come up with was already being used. In fact ct stands for 5 different things already carat, cent, count, county, court. And its capitol version CT is Connecticut, central time, certified teacher. crt is used for cathode ray tube and cir is circle. So there ya have it THAT THERE ENGLISH SPEAKIN AINT PERFECT.
