jomar I need to install a 30 amp breaker in a 100 amp residential panel. How do I know how many amps that I can actually put into a 100 amp panel?

You can have 100 Amps on a 100 Amp panel.

I suppose you are referring to an existing panel, with several loads already in place? In that case, you might want to perform a load calculation, to see if the service will handle an additional load connected to that 30 Amp breaker.

lctrc789 If you are asking how many breakers you can install in a 100 amp panel and what is the maximum, I suugest if you are a homeowner and are niot sure you call some one for help in this case.
It is done by load calculations and you should refer to some one with the proper knowledge, cannot answer this without an apparent problem.
