I dont know where this would belong or if anyone would want to do it, but in Arkansas there is a place called Workforce Education. They <the state of Arkansas> will pay a young persons wages for 3 months, 2 years of the apprenticship school, buy tools <within reason> and at the end of the 3 months you can hire them or fire them. I started a kid this week. Smart, but dont know nothin. I think it will be a good thing for him and since i do not pay him, it will be good for me. Build my patience or something like that. Anyway, I just thought that you would like to know this. Mabye there is something like that where you live

| Sounds like a great program but I don't think Michigan has anything like that. Jim

| This is through a federal program under the auspices of something called "Title 4" I am very familiar with this as I used to own a vocational school. Under Title 4 "welfare-to-work" program they pay 50% of a candidates wage to the employer. It's targeted at disadnvantaged and disabled candidates.

| This certian program pays all wages, workers comp and holds out taxes. It is a program to educate and help with the cost of basic tools. They get around 1,000,000.00 per year in my area and have several employees. Anyone working for me is not an employee. I am a sponser of a sort and the employer is actually the people that contract with the state to run the program.

| sounds like a great program if it works. you can get a bad apple just by hiring the wrong person. at lease it seems these people want to work and learn a trade. great way to get a trial run at lease to judge their work ethic.
