Subject - WATER IN NEUTRAL AT BREAKER PANEL
JOHNM I have an underground service to my meter head. The LB for the breaker panel is above ground about 6 inches. The meter box is under the overhang for the house and does not even get wet when it rains. The entrance conduit is sealed with expanding foam.

When it rains, I get a small amount of water coming into the breaker box through the neutral wire. No water is coming in through the primaries. The water is actually inside the plastic casing on the neutral. All joints and the meter box have been sealed with caulk. The meter box is dry inside as is the LB where the wire comes into the breaker box. This only happens when it rains for quite a while.

Any ideas on what might cause this and how to correct it?

I would appreciate a direct email as I stumbled on your sight and I am not the best at finding things on the computer and really need your answer. Thanks in advance.
electricalpro Hello, there could be alot of reasons for this problem but making sure the neutral is properly taped or sealed is the real issue. the water will migrate , sometimes you must start from scratch, and redue the connections with maybe heat shrink. or silicone or tape fill.
gregm perhaps you could also suspect condensation if air was moving through the cable jacket. Is is a humid area? what is the relative temp inside vs. outside? is it service entrance cable. also be carful of expanding foam as it may not be compatible with insulation types.
