I am feeding a 225 amp RPP in a data center. I submitted my pricing to the facility manager. I told him I am using 3# 4/0 THHN phase conductors a #4/0 neutral and #2 ground. He told me I am using to large of wire as all his others are 3/0 THHN. I told him that the breaker had 75 degree C lugs and it was not legal to use 3/0. I am wrong as I am doubting my knowledge? If I am wrong why?

If it was 200a 3/0 would work but I say you are right and need 4/0 if it is 225a as you state.

Why the #2 ground? If your OCD is 225 then #4 would be compliant.
