Subject - 30 volts on cable wire

This is only the second time in my career that I have been called for voltage on the cable wire. The cable company would not hook up the customers cable because they said it had voltage on it. The last time I ran into this I believe there was a small amount of bled through on the ground the co-ax was hooked to. This time is way different, the cable when not hooked to anything shows no voltage, so none would be damaging the TV. At the cable entrance outside at the apt. complex when you plug in the cable box you have voltage on the co-ax to ground. I tried to explain that it had to be feeding from the cable box outside not vice versa. Either there was a bad cable box or the voltage feeding back was normal. Either way there was nothing I could do. Any ideas???????

| David, I have not heard of this but I will say this do not be surprised at what you will find in apartments behind the walls or hidden in closets. I have found some real goodies before, people stealing power from another apt, cable being cheated or tied in to illegal, even phone lines spliced to neighbors .LOL
