Subject - new home bidding in nc
electric_man hello again....i was contacted by a contractor about doing some work in the asheville - hendersonville nc area on some new construction
resi. work . i am licensed in nc but have not done any work there
and i was wondering if anyone on here in that area could give me an idea on how you bid out new const. work , on custom homes i try and do it by the drop.
i was wondering how much different it might be here in sc than nc , any input as always is appreciated, contact me by email if
you like...thanks patrick
lctrc789 Patrick ( nice name) lol
I would suggest you call some of the contractots via the phone and ask them how much they charge for new openings etc. I wouldn't let them know who you are say you are a homeowner and are curious for example.
Try to figure the cost of labor and material, there as to where yo came from and see what you think is competitive and fair.
Perhaps some of the saftware on bidding may help you out but being new you should be competitive and fair and not lose money, you know what you are capable of time wise and what many custom homes have and what time amounts can be incurred.
Good luck and keep us posted.
electric_man hello..pat...thanks for replying yes that might be a good idea in trying to contact some of the ec's . i have done that in the past saying i was looking for some quotes and most ec's are very reluctant
to give out info over the phone....i know there is a lot of competition out here i dont want other ec's to feel like i am invading their territory .
but i ahve met some who have been very helpfull and we are all just trying to make an honest living in a very tough field...
i know that bidding here in my home town is lower than greenville
which is only 20 miles away , it seems sptbg. we have not come to modern age yet....haha...
lctrc789 Electric_man, I wish you well and hope you can get some close quotes for you to start a new venture in a very competitive business.
David Hyatt Electric man, I am also from SC and will be doing a job in NC week after next. I have been working on my NC license and it has been a real pain but I think I will be receiving them soon. The small commercial job I will be doing no other contractor in that area would even touch it, they said it was too small. Good luck
tds2 I am a journeyman ( going for res.lic. in near future:) ), who lives and works in NC. Several hours east of where you will be at. Bidding around here has become rather cut throat, dog eat dog ordeal if you know what I mean, LOL. I wish you the best of luck.
