I have some questions for anyone willing to give their opinion. I have a chance to go to a seminar on 2005 NEC, and work will reimburse the cost of the course as long as I get certificate. Unfortunately as an industrial electrician I do not get to use the NEC as much as I would like. So my use for it is limited, and my experience with it is mostly self taught. Also I am going to take an NEC course some time in the near future at IVY TECH.
So my questions go like this has any one been to one of these two day seminars? Is it worth it or should I just take the IVY TECH course? Also how hard is it to pass these seminars? Since I have only self taught if I put forth my best effort will I be able to keep up, or is it only for people already trained. The seminar counts as 1.5 American Traico CEU’s since I am industrial electrician these do not count at my work place, but can the benefit me in any other way?
Any input helpful and appreciated

| I would go. I attend several and I also teach several. I taught two 2005 seminars since it came out, and I have more lined up in the next couple of months.

| You can never get too much NEC. Take everything you can if for no other reason than to be comfortable with is in all areas of it. Jim

| I would go and see what you can find that you may not know. I have taught some classes and have taken many and each instructor is different in what they teach and how you learn. Many of these classes cover of course more then industrial and should help you understand the code and comprhend some of what you don't know. You can always learn and never to old to learn are we? As far as passing it don't sweat it, pay attention, keep notes and you will be fine.

| Most of those seminars offer a certificate for "attendance" --- I have not seen one yet that makes you pass any sort of exam to obtain it. Some jurisdictions require such certificates in order to renew the electrical licenses.
