Subject - Michigan Masters Test--Update
Jorren Well, I just received my test score of 91% for my masters test!!If any one is planning on taking the test, let me know, I can point you towards some good tips and advice. I'm not sure what I'll do with my license yet, (It's not required here at work, but I thought I'd challenge myself and get it) I still have to take my contractors test next month (40 questions on various electrical acts and administrative type of things-no code)
JimmyDee Wow! Way to go Jorren.

Congratulations

Jim
Jorren Thanks Jimmy, I was a little surprised to see how the state changed the test from when the various cities gave it. It was my understanding that when the cities gave the test, you were actually tested on things you would use in the field (i.e. heres a house/commercial bulding with a load schedule, size the service) Now the test just seems to be a compilation of trick questions (i.e. what is the temp rating of a device labled TB2 (check under Haz. locations ). Oh well, a pass is a pass.
Electro-dog CONGRATS!!! 91% is impressive, I'd settle for a 75 (lol) I'm fixin to have a go at my MI Masters', any insight would be most appreciated
zol_man To prepare for my test, I purchased the 2002 code series presented by Mark Shapiro. Was a GREAT help! I think that his products area available from The Construction Book Store.
Took my test 3 years ago, also in MI.
Electro-dog WOW! Zol_man, what took ya so long? I had to wait 5 whole minutes for someone to reply, let's pick up the pace ok?

I knew Shapiro gave seminars but I didn't know he had any printed materials, Thanks for the info.

Even tho alot of guys complain, I always thought we were lucky to have inspectors like Shapiro and McFeeley in this area, They're a couple of real sharp hombres
zol_man Mark Shapiro has an entire line of great materials for our trade. He has books, booklets, and videos that are great for your professional development.

I have purchase quite a bit of material from construction book store. Material from Mark and also Benfield products.

Tmibowl CONGRATULAITONS: You are correct, years ago when I took my masters test in Michigan they indeed tested you on hands on knowledge as well as calculations in a real life senarios (Apartment complex or an industrial situation or commercial bulding with you having to calculate out disconnect sizes, wire sizes, conduit, etc. to the lowest allowable by code). I heard that the new michigan state test has a lot of multiple choice questions on them now. Is this true? Just curious. Bottom line is YOU PASSED.
