Subject - Residential Bidding Software
Mike Delaney I have a spread sheet program I use for bidding houses. Its a home made job, but works good...its based off of a whole count sheet...outlets, switches, lights, dedicated ckts, and room to add a couple extra options like decora switches and outlets. Is there anybody that has a program similar to this? I would like to see whats out there, I've looked on the net before and came up with lame programs. If your interested I can send you a copy of this one, as soon as I figure out how to upload it..its a pretty small file in microsoft excel.
JimmyDee You just get the e-mail addresses of thoes interested and send it to them as an e-mail attachment. I do it all the time.
Jim
Mike Delaney Thank you JimmyDee (every time I see that name I'm thinking Jimmy Dean sausages :),

I've sent quite a few of those programs out without any feed back???

Does anyone have anyother residence bidding software, of the whole count type??

I think it is the impersonalness of the web that this happens. I always try to respond because I know I like it when someone responds back to me. But not to worry.

Hi, I am in the process of having to bid on my first new home. It is quite a day for me so I thought Ill give your excell sheet a look to help organize the bid.

Many thanks.
Jjohnny Hey Mike,
I use the same thing..a homemade spreadsheet bidding system. I would love to look at yours and share mine with you to see if i can come up with new ideas.
thanks
John
vze3h2x3 Hi Mike,
Could I try your spreadsheet, a friend passed along some residential prints to me.
jagerbombme mike, did you ever live in valporaiso indiana as a kid. i knew someone by your name there once
Mike Delaney jagerbombme,

I was born and raised in Fort Collins CO...I do recall having a bad experience with jager though..I guess who hasn't?

Ryan I have been looking all over for a format to help me bid jobs more accurate, I would love to try out your method. I am just starting out on my own and I am using a electrical catalog to price my meterals right now there has to be a better way please help
fdk479 i would like to jump on the bandwagon as well and would like to see that spread sheet
thanks mike
binney I'd be very interested, if you could send me a copy. I'm currently working for an employer and have started my own business. The bidding part is giving me a real headache (too much????????? not enough??????????).

What I've been doing is, I have every item i can thing of and put it into my Quick Books items list, I bring up a new invoice, get my quantities off the print enter them in as items and quick books looks at it as if it's an invoice and gives me a total.

It wasn't that bad to set up and it's been working quite well for me.
Mike Delaney It's funny, I was looking for different software myself, but instead I must have sent my program to atleast 20 people. It's a good program, maybe others can help mold it to offer more functions?
CooCooMike Hey Mike,I would like to check it out also, always willing to see what I've been missing.
stedder Mike, I'd like to see it also, I love working in excel and have designed a few worksheets for business use for tracking costs, month end stuff and billing / invoicing etc. so I would love to try an' screw up whatever ya got. If I come up w/ some idears I'll let ya know.
BASE Hey, I would like to see your spreadsheets as well. As I said in a different post, we usually bid by the square ft, but I would still like to see it. It could save SOMEBODY some money or it could cost somebody some money. As long as it is not me.......

hgcperfect DEar Mike,
I would like to receive a copy of your spreadsheet. The one that I have is a complete folder. I intend to sell it since I am low income.
I will however send you a free CD. Please e-mail me at hchapman_1999@yahoo.com. Send me yours as an attachment (Excel)
Thanks a lot
Howard
hgcperfect Dear Johnny,
Nothing really home made about spreadsheets. There is a great book about estimating with spreadsheet. I have a copy. I have my own spreadsheet but it is a complete folder. I am unfortunately low income
so I am trying to sell it, but of course not on this great web site. I can send you a free CD if you wish. Please send me a copy of yours as an attachment to hchapman_1999@yahoo.com. It is good to share ideas. Thanks a lot,
Howard

Ryan,
Get a copy of the free Home Depot electronic catalog which also includes an estimating program. The prices are competative.

For pricing, have you tried the Home Depot Free CD which contains competative pricing and a free estimating program. I sell a great MTO
CD which is not an estimating program but allows you to do a material takeoff electronically using excel or clone. There are also lots of help files, formula files and links. If you are interested I sell the CD for only $25 which includes tax and postage. Also try the free Home Depot
CD.

Sprky2005 Dear Mike:

I would love to see your spreadsheet you use for bidding residential new construction. It seems to be getting harder to get an accurate and fair bid out. I have also looked for a program that is real and down to earth. Too many of these crazy programs are too complicated and difficult to use. My e-mail address is AllAmericanSprky@aol.com. Want to thank you in advance for your help.

I'll let you know what I think, feedback is important.

Todd:) Rockford, IL
