Subject - 480 volt power distribution
mg05elec I am an industrial electrician and I want to check with you guys to confirm my conclusions I am biding a job with a 1200 amp breaker feeding a 1200 amp main lug distribution panel which in turn will feed a 800 amp distribution panel what size parrallel servieces should I use? I have my answer but I would like to see if it compares to other professional.
Ryan_J 3 sets of 600's for the 1200 amp. The 800 amp cannot be answered without knowing the load.
mg05elec Thanks for your input the second panelboard is a 800 amp fuseable main what is your input on this one?
Ryan_J If the load is less than 760 amps, 2 sets of 500's would work as per 240.4(B). If the load is greater than 760 amps, 2 sets of 600's would be required, as per 215.2.
lctrc789 good point jimmy, but I would just run 2 600 s paralled and be done with it, never know what may be added to the dist. after all is said and done.
Ryan_J Did Jimmy post in invisible ink again? :P
