I would like to put recessed lights in our new old house. I have halo IC type fictures with juction box attached.
Questions:
- house has bx. can I wire the lights with 14/2 romex and take the romex down to light switch for each bedroom?
-would you leave the outlet on the switch or should I just join together with non switched side.... there should be three wire in the walls to outlets, right?
-can I snake the romex though a punch hole in the switch box or must there be a bushing installed. If I can just snake it in, then I will not need to break the sheetrock, just drill down from attic and feed the wire into box.
-I can mix rx with romex, correct? I read that you need to ground to the back of steel box with tapped screw hole provided.
Thanks for your help! my wife will be pleased when I get this out of the way so she can paint!

| Sorry JoeZ, You need to call an electrician,to help you with this, since you seem to be a DIY'er.

| Thanks, I should have read the "read this" post. Sorry!
Are you able to tell me if it is to code to run bare romex through steel box punch-out holes.

Only if there is an approved clamping device such as a romex connector. There are some boxes that have built in clamping methods and that is OK also. Just a hole produced by a knock out, no that is not acceptable. Jim
