Does the code allow for one other outlet in the laundry room of a SFD.Both outlets are wired from the required 20amp separate circuit.
Thanks

| First of all I would like to welcome you to the Electrical Knowledge site. I really have to ask this question first before attempting an answer. What the heck is a SFD? Single fed device???? I can tell you I have installed 2 receptacles about 3' from each other in the laundry room. One for the washer and one for the dryer. It passed inspection and it was what the customer wanted. Jim

| Single Family Dwelling? Not having looked it up, just off the top of my head, the NEC states there shall be one laundry circuit, but does not specify the number of receptacles on said circuit. I would think that as long as the circuit stayed in the laundry room the number of receptacles wouldn't matter.

| Single Family Dwelling(SFD ?) as many as you like as long as the recpts supply laundry area only (no lights either) Also keep in mind Gfci required in 05 if within 6ft of laundry tub.

Probably the same as a laundry sink. Most older homes have them in the area where washing of clothing was done. Come to think of it, very few of the new homes have them installed anymore. Jim

atleast one additional 20 amp branch circuit shall be provided to supply the laundry receptacle OUTLET(S) (meaning one or more).

What if the 'help' plugs a radio into the laundry receptacle while ironing? Is this a violation? or is a radio part of laundry equipment

Didn't know you could do the laundry and ironing without the radio on. Jim

| Any receptacle in a bathroom, is considered a bathroom receptacle, regardless of what is plugged in, Any receptacle in a kitchen (counter, and the like) is a kitchen receptacle, regardless of what is plugged in. Any receptacle in a laundry........
