Does anyone have a better idea for installing a plug in a drawer for the make-up counter in a bathroom? Usually I pull SO cord from a junction box in the wall from behind the drawer and set a 4sq. with a split plug. 1 plug is put on a timer, the other stays hot. Any ideas as to a better wire than SO cord.

| This is a non-compliant installation all the way around :(

| We install receptacles below the sliding drawer, but thinking more on that, the customer better have some long cords for there curling iron, right? We get requests for that alot, and I would like to hear some more options as well.

| I'm at a loss as to what is being talked about here. Do you mean that a recept is installed in a drawer so as to allow hair tools to be plugged in while in the drawer? If so, sounds like we are in for a bunch of fires in the future. I'm trying for the life of me to figure out why anyone would want this done. Jim

| I have installed a double duplex under the knee space at a dressing table or make-up table. The counter top will have a hole drilled in one of the back corners to allow cords to be plugged in out of sight. Alot like say a desk with a phone or computer cord hole cut out. I have to say putting the receptacle inside the drawer is not a good idea. Could only cause trouble in my opinion.

| I would not touch that with a 10' piece of wiremold.

| Receptacles such as that can't be counted as the required receptacle.

| I've put receptacles inside the cabinet door up high cut into the side of the adjacent cabinet(base cabs) in kitchens to satisfy inspector and customer "I don't want an ugly thing like that cut into my new peninsula" wasn't real handy but everybody was happy

| Speaking as a chick, that's incredible! Who drew the plans for that one? I agree, I wouldn't touch that with wiremold either! Just give her an appliance garage if she's that ridiculous. -Ladyestrogen

| Homeowner I am currently working for requested this. If anyone knows a code violation I could site, please tell me. I am not going to do this and would prefer to give a "code" reason why. Thank a lot.

| Fitz, call your inspector, he should be able to come up with something.

| Ask the builder or cabinet maker how high the vanity will be and the measurement from the wall. Put the GFCI protected outlet just below where the counter will be and as close to the drawer as possible and drill a hole in the cabinet and the drawer. Most curling irons, hair dryers, etc. have 6 ft cords and should not be a problem. The rough in measurement is the key to the success. Communication!!!
