Subject - Fault on Transmiter
pisemude Hi,
i would like to know is there any way that we can detect any problem on field transmitter which caused by surge problem? Is there any simptom on the transmitter signal which caused by surge problem?

Thank You.

JimmyDee Yes, you can estimate the reading it should be giving and then try to determine if the input and and output levels are close to what they should be. Most of the time, the output signal generator in the transmitter will go out because of a damaged power supply.
Power supplies for a transmitter that have had a surge voltage can be repaired by replacing the diodes or the full wave bridge rectifier. In some power supplies, if they have a voltage regulator, it can become damaged as well.
If the transmitter has a replaceable power supply, change the entire power supply out. Most often, we just replace the transmitter so the process it is used in, can be restarted.
Hope this helps.
