Subject - Fire wall
David Hyatt In a strip mall with offices side by side, can you have an outlet facing both offices in a single bay?
Ryan_J Are you sure the wall is rated? Many times you don't have rated walls between them, because the use and occupancy of the two spaces is the same. In your example, you have two offices, which are group B and group B, therefore no fire rated seperation would be required (generally speaking). If it is rated, the answer is no, unless you provide 24" horizontal spacing or use listed putty pads around the box.
David Hyatt The sheet rock in one office and the sheet rock in the other office are separated by 4" stud wall. The sheet rock is two hour rated. If the sheet rock is taken down in one office you can see the back of the receptacle box in the other office.
