I have 10 awg wire coming out of steamer and calling for a 30 amp breaker. I have existing 6 awg going to the breaker box, can I use the 6awg or, do I need to run new wire using 10 awg?

| You can use the # 6 wire just change the breaker to a 30 amp.

| Safety Note Working in electrical panels is the domain of the electrician. If you've never worked on a panel under supervision then Don't do it. In an electrical panel there are many ways to get seriously injured or electrocuted.

| If i go ahead and use the #6 wires and there is a problem with the steamer would it not melt the #10 wires before it could throw the breaker on the # 6.sorry just learning

| No, because you changed the breaker to one that is sized for #10 wire(30amp). If you don't change the breaker then the answer is maybe.
