jgoon i got a hot dog trailer with a refrigerator,exhaustfan(5.6amps)and three outlets that i use for a radio.when i plug into a gfi outlet it trips it,but if i plug into a regular outlet everything works fine.why wont it work with a gfi?i thought it was the ref.but it i tryed it with the ref. unpluged it still popped the gfi.any ideas would be great thanks
tony thrower With the Hotdog stand unpluged, take each receptacle out of the electrical box they are in to see if the bare ground wire maybe making contact with the white neutral wire. If you find that they are in contact with each other separate them and re-install.This should solve the problem. If not turn off all the electrical devices, plug up to a GFCI,then turn things on one at a time. When the GFCI trips you will know where the problem is.Good Luck and God Bless!
earljam I have seen this happen when the cord cap is made up with the polarity swapped. Make sure the polarity is correct.
