I am not a electrician, I am a female living in an apartment complex. I am having a problem with my lights. In my kitchen my light began to flicker, then it stopped working period. I have two switch controls at times when you would flip the switch several times the light would come on and at time not. I you would leave the switch up hours later the light would come on like a ghost. Also my bathroom light does the same thing. my hallway light does not work period. It is not the bulba. I have notified my landlord who does nothing. I notified the health inspector who was reluctant to come out. He stated it that was my only problem it was not need for him to come out, however he need to know it it was the electrical panel, the bulbs or if i just did not have lights. I though that was strange that a inspector would say such a thing, therfore I sent a certified letter to him. That got his attention and he came out. Very annoyed that I sent a certified letter to him. He first tried to say nothing was wrong with the lights that the swithch had to be up in order for the light to work . after he played with the light for awhile he was able to get the kitchen light to work. I have been in this apartment for 20 years plus therefore I know how the lights should and should not work. THe inspector said he would notifiy the landlord. Well the landlord called me wanting to know specifically what the problem was. He had received letters from me stating what the problem was i am sure the inspector notifed him. I told him i was not a electrican therefore. I did not know. He said he would have a electrican call me to set upa a an apointment. I feel the inspector and the landlord isa playing head games. I am afraid because i am worried that this could cause a fire. I am at my wits end. I do not know what to do. Other tenants are having the same problem as i am. They seem to want to make this a isolated insident like I am complaining for nothing. I have called the utility company. They advised me to call the inspector, they also told me if a light acts that was these is a short somewhere. This building was build aroung the 1970's. Does anyone have any suggestions. I would really appreciate it. I am scared to death, but i cannot afford to move at the moment.
Many thanks for youe suggestions.

| I can feel your frustration because no one seems to be listening. From how you describe the problem, I think your fear of a fire is unfounded at this time but it seems you have a justifiable complaint. I am going to guess that it will be a simple fix for an electrician or the apartment complex repair person. I don't understand why the apartment owners don't repair it for you unless they are convinced it is a faulty fluorescent starter or bulb and then that would be your responsibility to have repaired. Hope you get it fixed soon. Jim

| i did not mean to put the question marks it was a mistake. Since this is my first time using this site. Indeed I do feel blessed. That is why I have this user name. I thak you for the respone. However, I have checked the bulbs. It is not the bulbs. Several apartments in this complex have the same problem. One thing I forgot to mention is 3 television sets in my building all shorted out in the same time span. Again thanks for your input.

I removed them for you and put a smile face in their place. Hope you don't mind. If there are other problems in the complex, you should continue to communicate with the owners until it gets repaired. However, with what you have described, I would not be afraid of an electrical fire. Jim
