Subject - Generator Violations
Dave Nix Here are some photos of a job site trailer-mounted generator. There are two loads, one is the wire in the PVC supplying the first job trailer and the second is the 10/3 extension cord supplying a second job trailer.

Based on these photos, can you spot the 6 code violations?

JimmyDee Right off the top of my head I see a few of them.
(1) looks like the grounding electrode wire is aluminum and is closer than 18" to the earth.
(2) Separate neutral and grounding wire not there. Should be 4 wire cable.
(3)Schedule 80 PVC should be used. (got nailed on this one myself)
(4)Non WP receptacles for power outlets.
cs409 where is the 4th wire for the second trailer?
rmansfield Should that riser have a goose neck or waterproof closure?

frenchelectrician and i can find few more spots there look at the wires on the generators to the pvc conduct where is the pull box for it ?

type of wire i dont think it really approve for that useage because i cant read what type of wire it is

i dont like the grounding lug on the generator frame there i never trust that arrangement there it should have double lug barrel set up so it can keep it at proper toqure without disubrting the lug itself. [ the lug is wrong kind for outdoor usage it should be copper lug and the wire should be copper btw too]

ground rod type i see the photo look like reg steel bar or the bar to used to hold cement forums [ ican see few other holes on it ]

shedule 40 pvc for procetion ?? naw better off use shedule 80 pvc some case i did see one say shedule 120 [ superhevey stuff ]

now for the twistlock repectales there is a door to close it and can have room to leave plug in there with door closed btw there is few angle plugs avabile anyway.

yellow/black cord look like to me 12 gauge 3 conductor cord type it should be 10 gauage type to handle 30 amp current.

merci, marc
cs409 i think i see the 4th wire, not sure, photo has a shadow....ground rod is a bit high out of ground.

Connections to grounding electrodes are required to be listed - that bolt is not a listed method. Raceways are supposed to be complete and supported.
