Installed a new GFCI Recep at my mom's house in a standard bedroom outlet because she was pluging in a humidifier. (water & electricity). Anyway, when I push the black test button the recep does not trip. But when I test it with my Greenlee tester (Has GFCI tester) it trips. I always test GFCI's after I install them and this is the first time this has happened. I Figured it was O.K. because the tester made it trip, but any thoughts on why the button does not work? WM

| Bring it back, it is not 'OK' something is wrong with it.
Your right, what is wrong with it may just be the test button itself and the protection may still be working.
But... you do not know that for sure.
You paid for a brand new, fully functioning device, why settle for less and take chances on something you thoughtfully installed for safety in the first place?
You did check your connections?

I going to guess that the button is broken. Jim
